In 1836 Captain Hugh Quin arrived in the new colony of South Australia aboard the ship "Cygnet." Captain Quin's grandson, also a Hugh Quin, and a renowned sailmaker to the local fishing Ketch and yacht racing fleet, founded Hugh Quin Pty Ltd at Port Adelaide, in September 1921, as riggers and sailmakers.
Over the years the company has expanded and Quins now service the shipping, commercial fishing sector and industrial market with equipment such as nets, buoys, ropes, twines, chain and safety equipment.
Electronics still plays an important part in Quin Marine with new marine electronics, servicing and spare parts.
